There are five major factors that determine Tulasi’s health: light, water, soil, air, and devotion. Using organic fertilizer maintains a proper soil environment for Tulasi to grow nicely.

Why Fertilizers are Necessary

In nature organic matter like leaves, dead plants, fallen trees, etc, are broken down by worms, bacteria and other organisms which in turn provide nutrients for plants to grow healthy and strong. But when growing plants in pots, there is no external source of nutrients occurring naturally, so we need to use organic fertilizers to replace it. 

There is a saying that one should not feed the plant, one should feed the soil. As the plant absorbs nutrients from the soil, the soil needs to be “fed” to allow fungi, bacteria, and other organisms in the soil to live and give nutrients to the plant. This ecosystem in the soil is like the digestive system of a plant, If the soil is not “fed” these organisms will eventually starve and die, thus leaving a weak unhealthy plant without proper nutrition.
